YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MANY LIVES MAY BE ETERNALLY CHANGED BY YOUR ACTS OF SERVICE! Hey everybody, we are SUPER excited about this event, because it is always such a great success! We usually minister to 40 - 50 A.T. Hikers each time! The cool thing is that they don't want to leave us, and they are all so incredibly thankful for such great food and fellowship after a hard lonely week on the trail! REASON WE DO THIS? This is primetime for the Appalachian Trail through-hikers and their 6-month journey to Maine. Many of them hike it in hopes of finding God and the meaning of life. Hopefully, we can steer them toward our Savior by our loving kindness. Join us as we talk with them, pray with them, and feed them with hamburgers, hotdogs and soft drinks, and supplies, all of which is known as getting some "Trail Magic". MOST IMPORTANTLY: We will also be giving out small pocket New Testaments with Psalms and Proverbs and scripture verses to those who want them. They will definitely have much time on their hands with many gorgeous places where they can read and reflect on God over the next few months. ON RAIN OR SHINE, because they hike in any and all weather. We will stay dry under our huge tarp. HOW YOU CAN HELP: We'll need a crew for set up and break down of our big tarp and poles with tables, chairs, BBQ grill, some prayer warriors, some servants for food service, some chatter'ers and encouragers, some cooks, nurses or medic's who can give advice on injuries and blisters, Guitar players playing Christian Music, and many who can help us write special notes or verses that we can place in the Bibles, and lastly people who can help us with the hundreds of dollars it costs us for food and supplies. TIME: 10:30am - 3:00pm'ish DATE: March 26th 2022 CHILDREN: Well behaved Children welcome. Keep in mind, if they are prone to get bored fast and might start complaining, this might not be an event for them. LUNCH: Will be provided lunch and snacks for all volunteers, same food as for hikers. Please feel free to bring more food if you desire. WHAT TO BRING: Warm clothes. You are at 3600ft and it could be windy. No animals please! RESTROOMS: As you come up Richard Russell, there are Restrooms at the turnoffs for Dukes Creek Falls and Raven Cliffs. MEETPOINT: All will meet at Hogpen Gap 10:30am, which is the at the top of Richard Russell Scenic Hwy (aka Ga Hwy 348) Where the "A.T." crosses the road. KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
