Echo: Cumberland Island Adventure 2019

Calling all you hard-core Adventurers, Photographers, Ocean goingers, Horse lovers and campers! Have you ever wanted to camp on a beautiful secluded island that has a spectacular never ending beach with little to no people on it? Or being able to watch a brilliant sunrise over the ocean or the stunning sunset over the bay? What about the thrill of experiencing some amazing wildlife up close and personal, like wild horses, giant Pelicans, armadillos, ghost crabs, raccoons, dolphins and many varieties of shore birds? Well, if you want all that, as well as a place for incredibly memorable quiet-times with the Lord the creator of it all, then here’s your opportunity to get about as close to the Garden of Eden as you can with great fellowship to boot! Spots are very limited and may go quickly! WHEN: Leaving North Atlanta 6:00pm May 9th. Returning Sunday, May 12th at 7:00pm. (On rain or shine). FOR THOSE DRIVING: Please let us know how many passengers you can take and what area from town you are departing from. Most people just leave their cars at houses. COST: $209.95 per person includes: • Thurs night shared hotel room in Kingsland, Ga (4 to a room). • Tour Boat Ride-(to and from Island) • National Park Admission fee • 2 nights camping fees • All on Island meals, food, snacks and drinks REGISTRATION LINKS: You are only confirmed after payment is received. https://tinyurl.com/CumberlandIsland2019 Refundable prior to April 25th. Non-refundable after that date, because last minute cancellations have been very hard to fill. We can assist in helping to sell your spot, but we are not responsible to do so. ADDITIONAL COSTS • Fuel for your driver. Split the fuel costs for the person you’re carpooling with. They will use a total of 2 tanks of gas to get down and back. • Bike rental: is available on the Island for an added cost. • You’re responsible for all your off Island food. SCHEDULE: LEAVING 6PM SHARP! 6+ hour drive to St. Mary, Ga arrive hotel around midnight. We’ll need at least 4-5 drivers 4-5 per vehicle plus gear. Tour Boat(Cumberland Queen) Departs St. Mary’s dock - Friday May 10th - 9:00am (must be there before 8:30 for orientation). Then departs Cumberland Island(by Boat) Sunday May 12th, 10:15am. Once cars are loaded, leaving St. Marys 11:45am and return Alpharetta approximately 6-7pm with possible stop on road for lunch together. AGENDA: Relaxing, swimming, hiking, biking, organized connecting, worship music, devotional, crab chasing, camp fires, star gazing, sunrise and sunset watching, just plain fun and relaxation with great fellowship. HIKING- Easy to Moderate(level ground but may have distance) TEMPS to prepare for: Day 65-88, Night 55-75 FOOD: (subject to change) Drinks- Water, Gatorade, Coke. Snacks- fruit, chips, cookies. Breakfasts- bacon and eggs (Sat) different kinds of cereal (Sun). Lunches(2 Fri, Sat)- Variety of sandwich meats and fixings. Dinners (2 Fri, Sat)- Chili and Mac & Cheese for Friday, Spaghetti and Salad for Sat. Please feel free to bring whatever drinks, snacks or additional food you wish. GEAR: Duffle bag/big suitcase for your gear ($20 at Wal-mart), Day Pack is a must, Sleeping Bag, Pad, Pillow, Jacket, Raingear, Hiking footwear, Sunglasses, Long Pants, Shorts, Swimsuit, towel, Long and Short Sleeves, Toiletries, Sunblock, Bug-repellant, Camera, Bible. NOTE: All gear is loaded onto front of boat exposed to the possible rain. So first rap all dry goods(clothes,etc) in trash bags to keep dry. WHAT NOT TO BRING: Alcohol, cigarettes, and too much stuff, you may just have to carry it. TENTS: Feel free to bring your own tent, but we will have some available. BATHROOMS: There are bathrooms with cold water showers. Solar waterbag showers work great as long as we have sun. We’ll be bringing some, but might need more. Wal-mart sells them for $10. KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom. WAIVER: By attending, each person assumes all responsibility and liability for themselves and their actions and hereby releases Echo Ministries, its employees, directors, officers, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability resulting from any loss, injury, illness, damages, or death, while attending, participating or volunteering in this event.
