**DUE TO PERMITTING AND THE LACK OF TRAIL MAINTENANCE, THIS HIKE HAS BEEN CANCELLED. NEW HIKE IS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 21ST** September’s Light Hike will be to the beautiful 2-mile trail at Edge of the World Rapids along the Amicalola River. This trail typically requires people to have a hunting/fishing license; however, we have acquired a special permit from DNR to allow our group to go for free! So join us for a day of awe-inspiring scenery, good exercise, fun and great fellowship as we get out and explore God’s incredible creation. *If you’ve never been to an Echo event, this is the perfect time to come! You will definitely meet other first-timers and leave feeling encouraged and connected* This will be a relatively easy hike with a difficulty level of D2 with a distance of 2 miles. D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far The address is Edge of the World Rapids: 7000 Hwy 53 Dawsonville, GA 30534 TIME: 10am – 12:00pm DATE: September 14th 2024 WHAT TO BRING: Shoes with good tread that can get muddy. Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Hiking Poles, No children or animals please. LUNCH: MOD Pizza – 215 Marketplace Blvd Dawsonville, GA 30534! KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
