Imagine the cool rush of adrenaline as you race down the slopes from 5,500 feet of snow-capped mountains. Breath in, as the mountain air fills your lungs with excitement. Settle down at the base of the mountain with some of your newest, dearest and best friends with a cup of hot cocoa! Get ready to hit the slopes at Beech Mountain with Echo Ministries!! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never gone skiing or you’re a veteran with plenty of slopes in your past – this will be a time for new and experienced people to hit the slopes together and have a blast! First, we are staying in a beautiful hotel that offers luxurious suites and an indoor pool with hot tub. We have rented a spacious conference room for us to gather for fellowship, games and messages. For those who don’t ski and want to come for the fun and fellowship, we will make sure to coordinate and organize something on ski day so you will be able to have fun too! Skiing is NOT required to come on this retreat! Unfortunately, last minute cancellations are very difficult to refill. If a refund is requested, we can refund prior to the deadline. FOOD: All food is at your own expense with the exception of Saturday and Sunday morning breakfasts. We will be coordinating lunch and dinner arrangements so no one will eat alone. Saturday is ski day so you will either need to bring your own lunch to eat on the mountain or wait in line for food at one of their restaurants. AGENDA: Friday check-in at 3pm with games in the evening time and an organized dinner at a local restaurant. Indoor pool is available too! Saturday: skiing from 12pm – 10pm with coordinated dinner and swim times at hotel. Sunday: Pack up and leave – some may choose to stay and ski at their own expense. *Facilitated connecting, challenging devotionals, playing cards or board games and enjoying God’s incredible creation! GEAR TO BRING: Toiletries, camera, Bible, daypack. Feel free to bring your own skis if you have them! SKIING: You will have to purchase your own lift-pass and ski rental. Lift pass is $88 and ski rental is $44. ATTIRE: Winter weather clothes are a must! CARPOOLING: Best to coordinate ahead of time when you are going. You can post on FB event wall for others to see, or wait till the week of when we'll send out an email to all those on the roster. Most people just leave cars at peoples houses. ADDRESS: La Quinta in Boone, NC: 165 Hwy 105 Extension Boone, NC 28607 KEEP IN MIND: that there are always dangerous elements when out in nature: Cliffs, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, icy, rocky and have steep embankments. Shoes may get muddy or wet. When hiking, many times the woods are your only bathroom.
