Hello Trailblazers! Are you ready for some jaw-dropping scenery! Then join us as we hike to the 2nd highest mountain in Georgia...Rabun Bald. If you’ve never been, then you will be amazed at just how dramatic the view is atop the summit. Some people say it’s more dramatic than Brasstown Bald! We’ll also visit a big waterfall in the area. So join us for a day of awe-inspiring scenery, good exercise, fun and great fellowship as we get out and explore God’s incredible creation. Weather Permitting call if not sure, We’ll have a short Biblical message at the summit. HIKE DIFFICULTY: D3+ (4 mi round trip) For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. Hike difficulty rating scale D1 Easy (beginner hikers) flat terrain D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) very hilly D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) steep inclines, moderate distance D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Steep inclines and long distance TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Rocky mostly wide open trail. Steady climb to summit with steep last ½ mile. TRAIL HEAD PARKING: Is very limited. Beegum Gap, Sky Valley, Ga TIME: 10:30am at Ingles in Clayton for Meet & Greet ADDRESS: Ingles Clayton – 176 Hwy 441 Clayton, GA 30525 WHAT TO BRING: Warm Coat, Hat and Gloves, rain gear, camera, water, snacks, shoes with good tread, Day-pack to carry your stuff. OPTIONAL TO BRING: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit LATE LUNCH approx. 2:30pm at Cupboard Café in Dillard. (Country Food) CARPOOLING: Encouraged due to limited parking, but not required. Not sure who will be at the carpools. We have no designated person. They are setup as a convenience only. CARPOOL MEETPOINTS: (CLAYTON is meet and greet) ***Please arrive ready to go with stomachs filled, cars gased, and bladders empty. *** Carpooling is encouraged, but not required. Gather between Taco Bell and Kroger. Meet at 8:50am, Leave at 9am sharp. • OAKWOOD: Meet in the outer parking lot of Goodwill. Look for people in cars. Time 9:10am, leave 9:20am sharp. KEEP IN MIND: that there are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, icy, rocky and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
