Spring is the perfect time to see the canyon come to life! These massive ravines create some of the most picturesque and colorful landscapes in the state. With amazing and unusual geographical formations and soil that is pink, orange, red and purple – you’ll be sure to see things you’ve never seen before. So, grab a camera and a friend and sign up for this epic journey. We will be staying just a few miles from the park at a beautiful group site in Florence Marina State Park – overlooking the Walter F. George Lake which borders Georgia and Florida. If you’ve ever wanted a great way to meet a great bunch of singles, this is the best way. Unfortunately, last minute cancellations are very difficult to refill. HIKING LEVEL: D2-D3 Depending on trail - Moderate, hiking rain or shine. We will be driving approximately 15-20 mins from campground to each trailhead. TENTS: We have plenty of room! Bring your own tent and SLEEP ALONE! BATHROOMS: In the site with running water! Woohoo! Showers are located in the park as well and we have a covered pavilion! ALL FOOD/SNACKS/DRINKS (included in your cost, but feel free to bring you own if you prefer): Friday Lunch - On your own on the ride down • Dinner – Build your own burritos Saturday Breakfast – Cereal, Oatmeal, Grits, Fruit • Lunch – Picnic at the Canyon: Chicken Salad and Broccoli Salad, snacks • Dinner – BBQ Plate in Eufala, AL Sunday • Breakfast - Cereal, Oatmeal, Grits, Fruit, • Lunch – On Your Own AGENDA: Hiking to remarkable scenery each day, facilitated connecting, campfire worship music, roasting marshmallows, challenging devotionals, and much relaxation and hanging out. TEMPS: Day 70 – 80, Night 50 – 60 GEAR TO BRING: Tent, Sleeping Bag, Pad, Pillow, towel, toiletries, camera, Bible, flashlight, daypack, camp chair. *If you need any of these, just let us know. ATTIRE: Rain Jacket, 2 pairs of shoes in case one gets wet, warm weather WHAT NOT TO BRING: Children, animals, tobacco, or alcohol CARPOOLING: We will organize carpooling through email a week before. IMPORTANT: Please do not arrive Friday evening past 9:30pm. If you want to catch the hike on Saturday morning, do not arrive past 9:30am. KEEP IN MIND: that there are always dangerous elements when out in nature: Cliffs, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, icy, rocky and have steep embankments. Shoes may get muddy or wet. When hiking, many times the woods are your only bathroom. WAIVER: By attending, each person assumes all responsibility and liability for themselves and their actions and hereby releases Echo Ministries, its employees, directors, officers, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability resulting from any loss, injury, illness, damages, or death, while attending, participating or volunteering in this event.
