**IMPORTANT UPDATE** Unfortunately, due to the cold and rainy forecast, we are cancelling the Light Hike in Dawsonville! Please join us for our upcoming Easter Dinner, Trivia and Fellowship Event on Sunday at 4pm! April’s Light Hike will be to the beautiful 3-mile trail at Edge of the World Rapids along the Amicalola River. This trail typically requires people to have a hunting/fishing license; however, we have acquired a special permit from DNR to allow our group to go for free! So join us for a day of awe-inspiring scenery, good exercise, fun and great fellowship as we get out and explore God’s incredible creation. *If you’ve never been to an Echo event, this is the perfect time to come! You will definitely meet other first-timers and leave feeling encouraged and connected* This will be a relatively easy hike with a difficulty level of D2 with a distance of 3 miles. D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far The address is Edge of the World Rapids: 7000 Hwy 53 Dawsonville, GA 30534 SPECIAL NOTE: It is opening day for Turkey Season, but we will be in a large group traveling together – so I don’t foresee any problems. Feel free to wear bright colors, if you want! TIME: 10am – 12:00pm DATE: April 8th 2023 WHAT TO BRING: Shoes with good tread that can get muddy. Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Hiking Poles, No children or animals please. LUNCH: Ruby’s Recipes – 104 GA-9 Dawsonville, GA 30534. The Philly Cheesesteak and Chicken Parm Sub are OUT OF THIS WORLD! KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
