Light Hike to Unicoi Lake - CANCELLED!

**Unfortunately, due to today's rainy forecast, we are cancelling both Light Hikes. So please make sure to join us again next month. God bless!** **Very important for those hiking Unicoi Lake tomorrow. You will need to drive through The Lodge to get to the upper parking deck above The Lodge. That is where we will meet at 10:00am. Carpool information. We will be meeting at 8:45am at the outer parking lot of Publix in Dawsonville. 145 Forest Blvd. Look for a Gray Honda Ridgeline Truck and/or Black Cadillac SUV. If you can help it, do not drive through Helen because it is likely you will be stuck in traffic.** This shaded loop trail around the tranquil Unicoi Lake is located in the heart of the Georgia Mountains, and it is a perfect walk to escape the heat of the summer. The will gather at the parking lot of the upper level of the Lodge. *If you’ve never been to an Echo event, this is the perfect time to come! You will definitely meet other first-timers and leave feeling encouraged and connected* This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D2 with a distance of 2.8 miles. For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far The GPS address is: Unicoi State Park & Lodge - 1788 GA-356 Helen, GA 30545 *Meet in the uppermost parking lot* TIME: 10am – 12:00pm DATE: July 9, 2022 WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS. No children or animals please. LUNCH: Unicoi Restaurant at the Lodge KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
