Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only minutes from downtown Atlanta. A beautiful, wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War. Beyond the mill, the trail climbs rocky bluffs to provide views of the powerful rapids below. Additional trails wind through fields and forest, showcasing ferns, magnolias, wild azaleas and hardwoods. *If you’ve never been to an Echo event, this is the perfect time to come! You will definitely meet other first-timers and leave feeling encouraged and connected* This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D2 with a distance of 3 miles. For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far The GPS address is Sweetwater Creek Park: 1750 Mount Vernon Road Lithia Springs, GA 30122. TIME: 10am – 12:00pm DATE: June 11, 2022 WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS. No children or animals please. LUNCH: after the hike. La Hacienda Mexican, 1102 Thornton Road, Suite E, Lithia Springs GA. 30122 KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
