May’s Light Hike will be to the new Gwinnett County Park of Settles Bridge Park. Settles Bridge Park is full of big trees, gentle hills and follows the Chattahoochee River on the back side of the park. Throw in free parking and real bathrooms and fellow Christians to fellowship with and you have it all for a great Saturday!! Settles Bridge Park is located on the Gwinnett side of the Hooch in Suwanee between Buford and Cumming. *If you’ve never been to an Echo event, this is the perfect time to come! You will definitely meet other first-timers and leave feeling encouraged and connected* This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D2 with a distance of 3 miles. For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far The GPS address is Settles Bridge Park: 380 Johnson Road: Suwanee, GA 30024. There is a National Park sign just past the entrance to the county park of Settles Park. If you get to the National Park sign, you have gone too far. TIME: 9:30am – 12:00pm DATE: May 14th 2022 WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS. No children or animals please. LUNCH: Frontera Mex Grill; 5865 Cumming Highway; Sugar Hill, GA 30518. KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
