Light Hike to West Palisades

Come join us as we explore God’s incredible awe-inspiring scenery, good exercise and great fellowship. This month we will be going to West Palisades, one of the Chattahoochee River’s most popular and scenic trails near Vinings. This network of three running, walking and biking trails – the West Palisades, Paces Mill and Rottenwood Creek trails – follows a paved path through wooded, wildlife-rich forest and riverine ecosystems. The West Palisades Trail follows the wide, grand Chattahoochee River upstream before swinging to follow a tributary creek to a small waterfall at the trail’s end. HIKE DIFFICULTY: D2 (3-mile hike) For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. Hiking Rating Scale: D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far NEW PARKING ADDRESS: 3444 Cobb Parkway, Atlanta GA 30339 **IMPORTANT!!!** We are NOT going to the parking lot off of Akers Mill. Lot is on the SW end of the trail. $5 parking fee. TIME: Meet at the trailhead at 9:30am. There is a parking fee of $5! LUNCH: Lunch will be at Panda Express 2654 Spring Road SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 WHAT TO BRING: Water, rain jacket (something to keep you warm), gloves, camera, shoes with good tread. What NOT to bring: Animals and Children PLEASE NOTE: Alcohol is not permitted at Echo events. All events are for legally single adults KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom. WAIVER: By attending, each person assumes all responsibility and liability for themselves and their actions and hereby releases Echo Ministries, its employees, directors, officers, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability resulting from any loss, injury, illness, damages, or death, while attending, participating or volunteering in this event.
