Situated high within the National Forest, at an altitude of over 4,100 feet, this remarkable Appalachian Mountain town is known for its breathtaking views, dynamic waterfalls and unique Main Street shops. Highlands, NC has been dubbed, “The Height of Happiness” because it has perfected the art of relaxation allowing visitors to unwind and rejuvenate in a picturesque mountain-setting. This trip is a retreat in every sense of the word. So, join us for an AMAZING overnight getaway for you to meet new friends. We will sleep two to a room with two double beds so you can sleep in comfort! We will also be able to gather and play games in the conference room of the hotel. AGENDA: Hiking to several jaw-dropping waterfalls and scenic vistas (hike rating D2 & D3), snowtubing (extra fee for those who want to) and dinner together (extra fee). Unfortunately, last minute cancellations are very difficult to refill. ATTIRE: Make sure to bring your warm winter jacket, hat, mittens and long johns because it is sure to be chilly! MORE INFORMATION: We will need to carpool to the trailheads from the hotel due to smaller parking lots. If you have a vehicle that can fit 5 or more comfortably, please consider driving and allowing others to ride with you! KEEP IN MIND: that there are always dangerous elements when out in nature: Cliffs, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, icy, rocky and have steep embankments. Shoes may get muddy or wet. When hiking, many times the woods are your only bathroom.
