Light Hike to Kennesaw Mountain

This Light Hike will be to the top of Kennesaw Mountain beginning and ending at the Visitor Center. This is a great time to hike up the mountain because there are no leaves on the trees so the views of Atlanta and Cobb County are awesome! This will not be a race so please do not be frightened by the thought of climbing about 700 feet in elevation. We will hike about 2.5 miles. This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D2+ For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. Hiking Rating Scale: D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far DATE: November 13th 2021 TIME: 9:30am – 12pm ADDRESS: 900 Kennesaw Mountain Drive; Kennesaw, GA. SPECIAL NOTE: If the Visitor Center parking lot is full, there is overflow parking about 1/4 mile north on Old US 41. We will try to shuttle hikers from the overflow parking. There is a $5 parking for entry to the park. WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS. No children or animals please. LUNCH: We will have lunch at the Golden Corral in Kennesaw – 700 Ernest W Barrett Pkwy NW Kennesaw, GA 30144 KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
