September's Light Hike will be to a relatively new park in Forsyth County/Cumming. It features a popular hiking and mountain biking trail beside Lake Lanier. Charleston Park has old growth trees and easy slopes to enjoy as we fellowship together with picturesque places on the edge of Lake Lanier. So, come out as we enjoy some wonderful fellowship and great scenery together! DATE: September 11th 2021 TIME: 9:30am – 12pm ADDRESS: Charleston Park; 5850 Charleston Park Road; Cumming, GA. PARKING: No parking-fee. Park in the Trailhead Parking Lot - not where the boat trailers park. Go left after entering the park and look for Trailhead Parking Lot. This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D2 with a distance of 3.0 miles For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. Hiking Rating Scale: D-2Hike Difficulty D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS. No children or animals please. Lunch will be at the Golden Corral; 2025 Market Place Blvd; Cumming, GA 30041 KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
