Have you ever wanted to camp on a beautiful secluded island that has a spectacular never-ending beach with little to no people on it? Or being able to watch a brilliant sunrise over the ocean or the stunning sunset over the bay? What about the thrill of experiencing some amazing wildlife up close and personal, like wild horses, giant pelicans, armadillos, ghost crabs, raccoons, dolphins and many varieties of shore birds? Well, if you want all that, as well as a place for incredibly memorable quiet-times with the Lord the creator of it all, then here’s your opportunity to get about as close to the Garden of Eden as you can with great fellowship to boot! WHEN: Wednesday (after work), April 28th - Sunday, May 2nd at 7:00pm. (Some may leave before the workday ends and some may leave around 1am Thursday morning). (On rain or shine). CARPOOLING: We will send an email the week before to coordinate carpooling. We don’t want anyone driving alone! ADDITIONAL COSTS • Fuel for your driver. Split the fuel costs for the person you’re carpooling with. They will use a total of 2 tanks of gas to get down and back. • Bike rental: is available on the Island for an added cost. • You’re responsible for all your off Island food. SCHEDULE: Make sure not to leave after 6pm on Wednesday night because that will get you into the hotel at midnight. Tour Boat (Cumberland Queen) Departs St. Mary’s dock – Thursday, April 29th – 8:30am (must be there before 8am for orientation). Then departs Cumberland Island (by Boat) Sunday May 2nd, 10:15am. Once cars are loaded, leaving St. Marys 11:45am and return around Atlanta approximately 6-7pm with possible stop on road for lunch together. AGENDA: Relaxing, swimming, hiking, biking, organized connecting, worship music, devotional, crab chasing, camp-fires, star gazing, sunrise and sunset watching, just plain fun and relaxation with great fellowship. HIKING- Easy to Moderate (level ground but may have distance) TEMPS to prepare for: Day 65-80, Night 55-65 FOOD: Menu TBD GEAR: Duffle bag/big suitcase for your gear ($20 at Wal-mart), Day Pack is a must, Sleeping Bag, Pad, Pillow, Jacket, Raingear, Hiking footwear, Sunglasses, Long Pants, Shorts, Swimsuit, towel, Long and Short Sleeves, Toiletries, Sunblock, Bug-repellant, Camera, Bible. NOTE: All gear is loaded onto front of boat exposed to the possible rain. So first wrap all dry goods (clothes, etc) in trash bags to keep dry. WHAT NOT TO BRING: Alcohol, cigarettes, and too much stuff, you may just have to carry it. TENTS: Feel free to bring your own tent, but we will have some available. BATHROOMS: There are bathrooms with cold water showers. Solar waterbag showers work great as long as we have sun. We’ll be bringing some, but might need more. Wal-mart sells them for $10. KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
