Hey Trailblazers! Are you ready for a real trailblazing adventure to a bunch of absolutely gorgeous waterfalls? Of course you are!!! We will be hiking to several newly rediscovered waterfalls east of Cornelia. Agility is needed for this one as we will be rock hoping some creeks, climbing over some obstacles, and scrambling down some steep ground, but it will be so worth it!!! Please make sure to read the "Waiver and the Keep in mind" near bottom of this post. Join us for a day of awe-inspiring scenery, good exercise and great fellowship as we get out and explore God’s incredible creation. WEATHER PERMITTING: showers, it's off. Clear and cold...We are on! TIME: 10am to 5:00pm (ish) with dinner. HIKE DIFFICULTY: D3+, (Total 4 mile hike) Some agility is needed for this one as we will be rock hoping some creeks, climbing over some obstacles, and scrambling down some steep ground, but it will be so worth it!!! Hiking Rating Scale: D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous, some steep D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/moderate distance. D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far TRAILHEAD LOCATION: 3 locations inside the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area outside Cornelia ROADS: We will be on gravel roads for several miles. So, if you baby your car or have really low clearance, jump in with someone else at the final meetpoint. DEVOTIONAL: We will do a short devotional at one of the falls. DINNER: Mexican in Cornelia WHAT TO BRING: DRESS WARM!!! Long Johns, warm hat and gloves, dress in layers, camera, water, etc. NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE GOOD TREAD or you will be on the ground a lot! Maybe bring 2 pairs of shoes if 1 gets wet. Optional Things to Bring: Hiking Poles PLEASE NOTE: This is a single adult only event. Also, please do not bring pets or animals. CARPOOL MEETPOINTS: Please arrive ready to go with stomachs filled, cars gased, and bladders empty. ***Carpooling is encouraged, but not required. ***MUST READ: These are set up as a convenience, therefore we do not know who will be at each location. You do not need to drive to other meet points except the final in Cornelia. • DAWSONVILLE: Meet at PUBLIX in outer lot by Chili's. Look for people in cars. Meet at 8:55am, leave 9am sharp. • BUFORD. KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained or non-existent, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
