Light Hike to Gold Branch Park
Sat, Sep 7th 9:30am - 12pm
Gold Branch Park 6156 Lower Roswell Road Marietta, GA 30068

September's Light Hike will be to the Gold Branch Park of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. We'll hike along the Morgan Falls Reservoir created by Morgan Falls Dam, also known as Bull Sluice Lake. This time of year, young hardwoods shade a forest floor that fills with mosses, ferns, and native Georgia wildflowers. The peaceful lake and river are home to cattails, marsh grasses, and aquatic plants. It is a perfect place to get some quiet time with God and fellowship with other believers. Feel free to bring a camera because wildlife fills the banks, waters and air surrounding these lesser-traveled, often quiet trails: heron, geese, ducks, fish, turtles, and deer are frequent sights along the trail. This will be a hike with a difficulty level of D -2 with a distance of 3 miles For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability. Hiking Rating Scale: D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far ADDRESS: 6156 Lower Roswell Road; Marietta, GA 30068 WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc. Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS.
