Gorgeous Light Hike of Indian Seats Trail

DescriptionSingles! Please join us for our May Light Hike as we will be hiking the Indian Seats Trail at Sawnee Mountain in Cumming. This hike features astonishing views as well as old gold mines. Please join us for a fun time of fellowship.

This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D -__2_ with a distance of _____4.0_____ miles
For your sake and the sake of the group, please do not assume beyond your ability.
Hiking Rating Scale: ____D - __2_______Hike Difficulty
D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat
D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills
D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous
D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility
D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far

The GPS address is 2500 Bettis-Tribble Gap Road; Cumming, GA 30040. Going north out of Cumming, turn right into the parking lot (do not turn left). Do not go to the official Visitor Center on Spot Road.

WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc.Optional Things to Bring: Bible, Hiking Poles, First-Aid Kit, GPS.
No children or animals please.

Shoot the Hooch

DescriptionAre you ready for some serious summer fun on the water!
Then join us as we explore the captivating beauty of the amazing upper Chattahoochee River!

We will be doing Section 3 outside Cleveland from the 115 Bridge down to Duncan Bridge. This trip takes 2.5 to 3 hours and contains many class 1 and 2 rapids and occasional class 3 rapid, but mostly during high water. There is much calm water to relax between rapids.

FIRST TIMERS: Many first time Kayakers have done this section without any problem, but if you need more information, contact the Outfitter.

At the halfway point, we will rest for a snack and a short devotional on a beautiful beach.

RENTAL COST: Sit on Top Kayak $34.95 Per Person includes Shuttle. Pay when you arrive.
SHUTTLE FEE: If you have your own Kayak, shuttle fee is $10.00 If you bring your own kayak, please make sure to bring a helmet and life preserver.

WHAT TO BRING: You will get wet. Change of clothes for after, Modest Swimsuit, sneakers or sandals you can get wet, for walking in water on rocks. Water/Gatoraid, snacks, sunblock, sunglasses with strap. Outfitter has gear, helmets, life jackets.

CARPOOL INFO: Carpooling is encouraged because it's a great way meet folks, but not required. these are set up as a convenience, therefore we do not know who will be at each location.
ALPHARETTA: Best Buy on Northpoint Dr and Haynes Bridge. Park in outer lot straight out from entrance next to Immediate Healthcare. Meet at 8:30am Leave at 8:35am sharp. Go Hwy 400 toward Cleveland. NOT 369 into Gainesville.
GWINNETT: Meet in the outer parking lot at the Wal-mart on Hwy 20 just east of 985. Time 9:00am leave 9:05am sharp. Look for folks in cars.
CUMMING/DAWSONVILLE: Meet at Kroger on Hwy 53 and 400 at 9:00am and leave 9:05am sharp. Look for people in cars between Kroger and Taco Bell.

MEET AT OUTFITTER: Wildwood Outfitters, 26 Megan Dr Cleveland, GA 30528
It's on the north side of the Duncan Bridge on SR384 aka Duncan Bridge Rd. that's just as you cross over from Habersham County into White Co.

TRAVEL TIME from Alpharetta: approx 4 Hours (without Friday traffic) (Absolutely no arriving past 9:30pm) Best if you leave no later than 5:00pm on Friday. Some of us will be there early on Friday morning, so feel free to come earlier and relax and enjoy the day. If arriving Saturday Morning, you’ll need to leave before 6:00am if you wish to hike with us at 10am.

IMPORTANT: Gasoline is no longer available on the Parkway, so fill up before you get on. There is a small General Store at the Pisgah Inn, but Walmart, Gas and Groceries are over 1 hour away.

NOTE...NOTE…NOTE!!! GPS and Mapquest have been incorrect in the past and some people have gotten lost and severely delayed. Use “Pisgah Inn” and see if the later part of your directions lineup with these below. If not, I wouldn’t recommend following them. Cell phone coverage is bad at best

Wouldn’t you like to hike along treeless mountaintops that resemble the Swiss Alps with unobstructed views in every direction? How about looking off the precipice of a 1000ft cliff or feeling the spray from a gigantic raging waterfall? How about watching the sun rise and set over the mountains. If so, then get ready for an amazing adventure to scenery that will ABSOLUTELY knock your socks off!

Join us for a remarkable journey of camping and hiking in one of the most scenic areas in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Our hikes will be to several spectacular waterfalls and breath-taking mountain peaks. What makes this time of year so special is that this is the only time when the Rhododendron along Parkway bursts forth with purple blooms and the azaleas blaze bright orange, so prepare to be absolutely “WOWed”.

If you’ve ever wanted a great way to meet a great bunch of singles, well this is the best way. So come join us for an incredible time of fun and fellowship while soaking up God’s amazing wonders.

Reservations are non-refundable after Friday May 12th. Unfortunately, last minute cancellations are very difficult to refill. If needed, we will assist in attempting to refill your spot from a waiting list, but this is not guaranteed. If a refund is requested, we can refund by the deadline minus the paypal refund fees.

HIKING LEVEL: D2-D4 Depending on trail/ Moderate with occasional Strenuous, hiking rain or shine. We will be driving approx 15-20 mins from campground to reach each trailhead.

AGENDA: Hiking to remarkable scenery each day, facilitated connecting, campfire worship music, roasting marshmallows, challenging devotional, watching the sunrise (if desired) and much relaxation and hanging out.TEMPS: Day 80-60, Night 50-60 (it is much cooler at 5000 ft)

GEAR TO BRING: Sleeping Bag, Pad, Pillow, towel, toiletries, camera, Bible, flashlight, daypack, camp chair. *If you need any of these, just let us know.
ATTIRE: Warm Jacket, Rain coat, 2 pairs of shoes in case one gets wet, both warm weather and cold weather clothes.
WHAT NOT TO BRING: Children or pets
TENTS: Due to limiting of tents, we will already have some large tents set up, so we cannot guarantee that you will be able to set up your own.

BATHROOMS: Yes ladies, we have warm showers! Woohoo!

CARPOOLING: We have set these points as a convenience, there are no designated persons heading them up. Best to coordinate ahead of time about when you are going. You can post on FB event wall for others to see. Most people just leave cars at houses.
• ALPHARETTA - Calvary Chapel 200 James Rd Alpharetta meet at 5:45am.
• GWINNETT- Park & Ride on Hwy 20 and I-985 at 6am.

IMPORTANT: (Please do not arrive past 9:30pm) The earlier you leave on Friday the better in order to see the amazing views driving along the parkway and to avoid the traffic. Sunset is 8:38pm. Sunrise 6:30am for you early risers coming up on Saturday morning.

TRAVEL TIME from Alpharetta: approx 4 Hours (without Friday traffic) (Absolutely no arriving past 9:30pm) Best if you leave no later than 5:00pm on Friday. Some of us will be there early on Friday morning, so feel free to come earlier and relax and enjoy the day. If arriving Saturday Morning, you’ll need to leave before 6:00am if you wish to hike with us at 10am.

IMPORTANT: Gasoline is no longer available on the Parkway, so fill up before you get on. There is a small General Store at the Pisgah Inn, but Walmart, Gas and Groceries are over 1 hour away.

NOTE...NOTE…NOTE!!! GPS and Mapquest have been incorrect in the past and some people have gotten lost and severely delayed. Use “Pisgah Inn” and see if the later part of your directions lineup with these below. If not, I wouldn’t recommend following them. Cell phone coverage is bad at best

DIRECTIONS: (This is the fastest, as well as the most scenic)However you can get to I-985 and go North Above Gainesville, I-985 turns into 23/365/441N Continue on 441 North towards Clayton and into Franklin, North CarolinaOnce in Franklin (watch for signs) Turn right onto 64E/441North and go approx 19 miles toward Dillsboro.In Dillsboro, go straight at light, (not business loop) Take 23N/74 East toward Waynesville and go approx 12 to 13 miles (halfway to Waynesville)Should see sign for Blue Ridge Parkway (near Balsam Gap and an overpass)Turn Left toward Blue Ridge Parkway Follow signs to NORTH on Parkway (may be confusing)Go NORTH for approx 35 miles. (Mile markers will be going down, if not, turn around!)

ADDRESS: Campground is located on left between mile markers 408 and 409 on the Blue Ridge Pkwy (Across street from the Pisgah Inn- 408 Blue Ridge Parkway Waynesville, NC 28716)
We will be in either C or D-Loops and look for signs that says “Echo”

KEEP IN MIND: that there are always dangerous elements when out in nature: Cliffs, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, icy, rocky and have steep embankments. Shoes may get muddy or wet. When hiking, many times the woods are your only bathroom.
